The numbers from financials can help you to make decisions in variety of areas - most important are profit or cash calculations. With this you will see if 2 shifts are better than 1 in you situation, if you should increase or decrease prices, how much you will pay when you increase wages, etc. Every single decision you make is related to you financing and you will be able to see it.
What the tool doesn´t calculate in Excel 2 sheet (because it can´t be actually done, but the tool provides you at least an analysis after the quarter is played and you have the data):

Please read: The Global Management Challenge organizers changed the simulator a bit in 2013/2014 edition. There are some 5 new decisions (about premium materials, subcontracting, shares issue/repurchase, factory extension and staff training), the rest is the same. In total you have to decide about 75 values while it was 66 before. The new things are rather minor, but the organizers also changed the format of the reports to a different structure.
